As we approach March Mayhem tip off, our brackets are filled out, and we're sure we have isolated this Year's Davidson. Have you noticed that when the media hypes the NCAA Tournament, it highlights the upsets of the George Masons,Vermonts, and Davidsons? The media doesn't say much about #1 seeds blowing out #16 seeds. The general public loves the David beats Goliath story. So I went back and checked the scores and ATS results of the 2007 and 2008 NCAA Tournament First Round Thursday and Friday results. What I found is that Thursdays have been a dog killer or a Favorites' dream ! First Round Favorites Results ats Thursday 2007 13-2-1 Thursday 2008 13-3 Friday 2007 7-7 Friday 2008 8-7 Total Results Favorites in the first round 41-19 ATS, in the last 2 Tournaments.( I didn't count games -2 or less) Two Years is a small sample, but recent numbers are a important fact when handicapping. The morale of this article is that I know of some dog-bettors that got their bankrolls wiped out on Thursday and didn't have much left to play the next weekend. For all the bettors that cashed in on the Favorites, I have a feeling they gave it back in the sweet 16. Good Luck and Have Fun this Tournament, Questions or comments, email me champ523@msn.com
