Love him or hate him, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the biggest draw in boxing and playing the role of boxing’s bad boy has made “Money” Mayweather more money than he can fit in an episode of the HBO series, 24/7. Some question his antics, but no one can question his ability in the ring. That ability will be tested Saturday evening at the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas strip by “Sugar” Shane Mosley who will prove to be the Pretty Boy’s stiffest test to date. But like Mayweather has done so many times before, he will find a way to prevail and stay unblemished.

Granted, this isn’t the mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao that many anticipated. Many in boxing circles still expect that fight to happen sometime this fall, but that was the case the first time around. Even still, for that fight to happen, Mayweather has to get past Mosley which is easier said than done. The sports book odds suggest Mayweather will have little trouble with the 38 year-old Mosley. Mayweather is currently listed as a (-420) favorite with Mosley offering a payoff of (+320). But unlike Juan Manuel Marquez before him, Mosley is a true welterweight, with power. His ability to end this fight with one punch makes a wager on Mosley somewhat tempting.

But boxing sharps will tell you that in order for Mosley to knockout Mayweather, he’ll have to catch him. He’s going to be a moving target and as per usual, a target that will be really hard to hit. While that may not have sounded so far fetched a few years ago, at age 38, Mosley will find it difficult to keep up with the elusive Mayweather. A few years ago, Mosley’s hand speed and quickness was comparable to that of Mayweather’s but now, after more than a year off and up there in age, not so much.

Despite what Mayweather would have you believe in the media, the Pretty Boy is well aware of the challenge Mosley presents. So much so, Mayweather's people negotiated a rematch clause in the contract, but only if their fighter loses. Both fighter’s are masters of their craft and both spend countless hours in the gym. But ultimately, this fight will be a tale of two fighters at different points in their careers. Mosley will be game, but like he has done 40 times before, Mayweather will run away with it.
